COVID-19

In accordance with the mission of the Victorian Government, COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement for work in the disability services sector. Precise This decision will help protect our community against the COVID-19 virus. To join the team, you must show documentation confirming your COVID-19 vaccines are complete.

Providing Safe Assistance

As an NDIS provider, we are bound by the NDIS Practice Standards, the NDIS Code of Conduct, and registration requirements that have to do with providing NDIS participants with safe, high-quality supports and services and managing risks related to those supports.

The NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission has produced an information sheet for providers regarding the preparedness, prevention, and management of a COVID-19 epidemic. This resource provides support providers with practical guidance to ensure workers take reasonable precautions to protect people with disabilities and themselves, prepare for an outbreak of COVID-19, respond to suspected or confirmed cases in various types of service settings, and manage an outbreak of COVID-19.

The state of Victoria now offers COVID vaccinations to individuals with disabilities, as well as their colleagues and caregivers. Vaccination information for people with disabilities, caregivers, volunteers, and disability support workers contains additional resources.

The Victoria coronavirus webpage for the disability community contains accessible information about coronavirus for people with disabilities.

Certain personnel (including contractors, volunteers, and students on placement) are required to be vaccinated; for more information, please see the Coronavirus website or consult the Chief Health Officer’s Directions.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination can be received without charge from

  • MyGov COVID-19 digital certificate
  • Immunisation history statement provided by Medicare

COVID-19

There are 3 pathways for PCR testing for people with disabilities, their caregivers, and disability support workers:

  • Everyone in the community can go to one of the COVID-19 testing sites. Visit Where to get tested to find the closest place to take the COVID-19 test.
  • The Call-to-Test service is for people who have signs of coronavirus (COVID-19) but can’t leave their homes because they are hurt, can’t move around well, or for other reasons that qualify. Visit Call-to-Test – reaching out to vulnerable Victorians to use the Call-to-Test service.
  • In-home testing is available for residents in residential facilities for people with disabilities, such as group homes and respite centres. This service is offered to residents who have COVID-19 symptoms or who have been identified as household or home-like contacts of a confirmed COVID-19 case. To seek in-home testing, the provider of residential services for individuals with disabilities must contact RREMoutbreak@dffh.vic.gov.au and submit a referral to acquire a testing request form.
